1. What is the theme of "About Effie"?

The theme of "About Effie" is that we should never ever give up things although it is really hard to do. I think that the author was trying to say that we should never give to archive something that really want, then you will recieve something that you tried for.

2. Find a verse from the bible that relates to the theme of "About Effie: and include it in your written responses.

Luke Chapter 5

1One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a]with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, 2he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down[b] the nets for a catch."
5Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."
6When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!" 9For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon's partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will catch men." 11So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

This passage shows us that Peter tried really hard to get the fish in the net for whole night, but he hadn't caought anything up. As Jesus went to him, and said that he should try to do it in the deeper water, Peter could have not listened to him, and went back to his house, but he actually tried again, and he caught fish as much as if the net is going to get cut. This is how amazing God is, and we should try and not give up until we get the archievment.

1. Who is Effie waiting for?

Effie waits a man, who she doesn't mentions the name. I think she is waiting for 'Him' to take her away and save her from something that she is worried about.

2. This story contains a lot of Christ imagery. Write down three separate sentences from the story that might symbolize Jesus and explain why Timothy Findley might have written these into his story.



3. Can non-Christian authors reveal truth about God's world?

Not really, because they don't belicve in the heaven, but they can still imagine a a world like that. but point is that, they can't reveal that the God's world is true.
